José E. Fernandez is the former President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oriental Bank. Fernández is also a Trustee Emeritus of the University of Notre Dame. He is the Founder and President of the Kinesis Foundation, established in 2004, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Puerto Ricans students of all backgrounds to achieve a higher education.

Fernández also speaks about the inequalities endured by Puerto Ricans on account of the island’s status as a commonwealth, and of the work that Kinesis Foundation did to help the students and families they serve across the island.
