Larry La Fountain-Stokes is the Interim Director of Latina/o Studies Program and Associate Professor of Spanish at the University of Michigan.
In this conversation outside of Larry’s house in San Juan, he speaks to Will about his experiences picking up his 89-year-old mother after Hurricane María. He also talks about the visceral experience of returning to Puerto Rico after Maria, and he articulates that there is a “new normal” that is beginning to set in. Larry also offers a brief overview of why the current situation in Puerto Rico is so complex.
